Villars: ‘High Altitude’

Snow Time: a decorative and dramatic image and notable example of graphic art suggestive of the artistic and social trends that found inspiration in the influential Art Deco movement. The exclusive resort of Villars, situated in the Vaud Canton and overlooking the Rhône Valley and mighty Mont Blanc massif, is a venerated winter and summer venue. By the middle of the 19th century Switzerland was a favourite rendezvous for travellers, reflecting the vogue for skiing, tobogganing and mountaineering, all three largely popularised by the British.
