Marque time: Triple Le Mans winner, Luigi Chinetti entered a 365P, with a 250 LM nominated as a back-up car, for NART, the North American Racing Team. Drama attended the endurance race when a bespectacled Masten Gregory, partnered by Jochen Rindt, and driving flat out, scored a surprise win in American entry number 21, the 250 LM. NART's first Le Mans victory was arguably the team's most notable success. Ferrari's British concessionaire Colonel Ronnie Hoare, recalling Enzo Ferrari, said "He will never be forgotten for his contribution to the car in general and the racing car in particular."
