Close formation: Daytona International Speedway, at Daytona Beach, was the prime venue for long-distance road-racing Florida-style. Two works-entered 330 P4s, driven by Amon-Bandini and Parkes-Scarfiotti crossed the line in company with the Rodriguez-Guichet 330 P3/4 to finish in a thrilling 1-2-3 formation. Chief architect of Ferrari's success was the supremely capable team manager Franco Lini. The 1-2-3 photo finish inspired the press to adopt the name of the famous Florida track for Ferrari's newly-announced Berlinetta, the 365 GTB/4… known ever since as the Daytona.
