The legendary 1952 Alfa Romeo Disco Volante Spyder, one of the most radical and beautiful sports cars of the post-war era. Designed by Carrozzeria Touring, the Disco Volante — Italian for “Flying Saucer” — was named for its futuristic, aerodynamic form, developed using advanced wind-tunnel testing that was far ahead of its time.
Its sculptural, flowing bodywork is defined by a low nose, pronounced front wings, and smooth, uninterrupted curves that appear to float just above the road. Finished here in vivid Alfa red, the open-top Spyder embodies speed, innovation, and Italian craftsmanship at its peak. Beneath the skin lay Alfa Romeo’s competition-bred engineering, making the Disco Volante as formidable on the track as it was visually arresting.
Set against the elegance of Lake Como, long associated with Italian automotive heritage and concours culture, the car feels perfectly at home — a symbol of wealth, taste, and the golden age of European motoring. The surrounding scene of refined leisure only enhances the car’s presence, positioning it as the ultimate expression of 1950s design confidence and glamour.
