Jumping for joy: Thanks to the microclimate between Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc, substantial snowfall is usually generated during the winter sports season in the Portes du Soleil area, which comprises 12 resorts across the Franco/Swiss border, including Morzine and Châtel. The striking skier displayed effortlessly gliding through the air is characteristic of the classic design period from the late 1920s to the mid 1930s, known as Art Deco. This iconic design style comprises zigzag and streamlined forms in combination with formal geometric shapes, the designs always placing the decorative style of an object before its functional qualities.
